Commercial mould removal and duct cleaning in the Pilbara

Mine villages and camps are usually rows of similar rooms built to one design. When mould shows up in one room, the cause is often present in the rooms beside it, so it pays to look at the village as a whole rather than one complaint at a time.

Work starts with an inspection of a spread of rooms: moisture mapping, a look at the air conditioning and drainage, and air or surface samples where the extent isn't obvious. Samples go to a NATA-accredited laboratory. The results sort rooms into those that need remediation, those that only need cleaning, and those where the air conditioning is part of the problem.

Remediation follows AS-IICRC S520: contain the area, remove what can't be saved, clean and dry what can, then check the result with post-works sampling. Where ducts, air handling units or split systems are carrying dust and mould, they can be cleaned in the same programme. Duct repair or replacement, where cleaning isn't enough, is delivered through licensed mechanical contractors.
