Is hood cleaning the same as canopy cleaning?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Hood, canopy and range hood are different names for the stainless steel hood over your cooking line. A hood clean covers the canopy and its filters, plus the duct and fan wherever we can safely reach them.

How often should kitchen exhaust be cleaned?

Accepted Answer

At least every 12 months under AS 1851. Busier kitchens need it sooner: the AIRAH guide starts at every 2 months for heavy frying or grilling over 16 hours a day. Some councils, such as Wanneroo and Cockburn, ask for ducts every six months. Wood or charcoal cooking needs a shorter schedule.

What are the kitchen exhaust cleaning requirements in WA?

The Food Standards Code says your exhaust must be kept clean, with no grease build-up, and your council enforces it under the Food Act 2008. AS 1851 sets a minimum schedule. It isn't law on its own, but your lease or building approval may refer to it. Some insurance policies also require it. The obligation sits with the venue.

Do you offer a free check?

Yes, for commercial kitchens in Perth metro. Regional WA by arrangement. You tell us your trading hours, we confirm a time, then come out while your cooking station is off and check the canopy and filters, plus the duct and fan wherever we can safely reach them. You get photos of everything we find, with anything we can't reach listed in writing. It's a visual check with photos. It is not a clean and no certificate is issued.

What do I get after a clean?

A service certificate for the clean, a dated sticker on the hood, and a photo report: before and after photos of what we clean, the areas cleaned, and written notes on anything needing attention, for example missing access panels.

Will the report satisfy my insurer, landlord or council?

Accepted Answer

We can't speak for your insurer, landlord or council. The report shows what we did, where and when, with photos. Ask them what they need and we'll tell you whether it covers it.

Can you work around our trading hours?

Accepted Answer

We book around your trading hours and agree any downtime before we book. Roof fan work is done in daylight. How long a clean takes depends on the system, and you'll know the timing from the quote before anything is booked.

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Every system is different: size, duct length, grease load, access and location all matter. We look at the system first, then email a written quote based on what's really there, with any conditions (such as stand-down if works are stopped on site) set out on the quote.

What if the duct has no access panels, or hasn't been cleaned in years?

Accepted Answer

Missing access panels are common in older fit-outs. We tell you up front, can arrange for access panels to be fitted if you want them, and never claim a section was cleaned when it couldn't be reached. A heavily loaded system takes longer, and the quote reflects what we find.

Do you work at mine camps and remote sites?

Accepted Answer

Yes, by arrangement. We clean mine-camp kitchens in the Pilbara, and our crews already work on major Pilbara mining sites, so inductions, permits and client paperwork are normal for us.

Do you replace or exchange grease filters?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Filters are cleaned as standard. We can quote regular filter exchange between cleans, and replacement of damaged or worn-out filters.

Do you clean cool rooms as well?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our cool room cleaning covers the walls, floor, ceiling panels, evaporator coil, drains and door seals, with food-safe sanitisation and a written report. Ask about it when we look at your exhaust.
